Scientific Observations

Today Anne Barker from Waikato University worked with Room 1 and helped them learn how to make scientific observations.  She has set a challenge for them to replicate the model she used in class.  The first person to do this successfully will win a chocolate fish!!

Well done to everyone in Room 1 who did so well in the recent reading test.  What excellent results.

Week 4 was very busy and Week 5 will be too.  For the next 2 weeks we have instructors from the Aquatic Centre coming to take lessons with the senior school. You MUST have your togs at school every day.

On Friday the Young Vinnies are running a mufti day.  You need to dress as your favourite book character.  Gold coin donation please - proceeds will be going to the Special Needs Christmas party.

The Young Vinnies are also collecting cans for the church food bank.  Please bring in a can of food and write your house name initial on the lid of the tin to get house-points.

Notice from Mr Macmillan
Year 6 Orientation Day.

You will have been advised by JPC via email that this day is the 21st of November and runs from 12pm until 2.30pm.  This year a bus will NOT be provided by JPC and therefore parents will need to take children to, and pick up from JPC.   We understand that this will be difficult for some working parents and would suggest you might like to share transporting with other families.

Week 3 Winners

Well done to Kim for winning Boggle and the Roll of Honour.  Hili got the Figure it Out.

Week 4

Due to the poor weather, the Athletics day was postponed last week and is now on THURSDAY at the Rotorua Stadium (weather permitting).  All the details sent out last week remain the same.
If you are able to help on the day, please email Mrs Dobson to let her know - lornad@stmarysrotorua.school.nz

It hasn't been very good weather for walking in the Redwoods but try and keep a lookout for the small pinecones we are collecting.  Christmas will be here very soon!!

On Friday, we have Grandparent's Mass and celebration.  If you have a grandparent or other visitor coming to school, can you please bring a small plate of food to share for morning tea.  We will have morning tea in our class with our visitors.
